Drums of Steel features Derek DiCenzo, a
multi-instrumentalist who performs constantly in and around central Ohio
with many groups including the Bobby Floyd Trio, Vaughn Wiester's Famous Jazz
Orchestra, Joe Crump, and the Jazz Crackers. Derek has toured and
recorded with Jamaican-born jazz piano sensation Monty Alexander and his
steel-drumming is featured on Alexander's LP "To The Ends Of The
Earth" (Concord). Derek played
steel drum on a soundtrack for the Discovery Channel's "Great Chefs of the
World" with the late jazz guitar legend Charlie Byrd. Derek will be a
featured soloist (guitar and steel drum) this December with the Columbus Jazz
Orchestra.Joining DiCenzo are some of Columbus'
premiere musicians, Dave DeWitt on triple-cello steel drums, Nate Anders on
vibes, and Maxwell Button on the drum kit.
